Regardless of how much you may run from it, change is something that will always catch up with you. Whether this change be subtle over time or drastic within just one day, it can definitely be intimidating and worrisome! Change happens at home, work, school, and even just out in your every day community. Change can take the form of simply remodeling the park down the road, or a family member becoming very ill. Now, not all change may seem like the best experience you’ve encountered at first but here are some things to remember when you’re feeling scared or anxious about a change in your life!
Let yourself feel upset. There is nothing wrong with feeling upset when you are encountering change, just be sure that this feeling doesn’t last too long. Getting stuck in the sad, angry, confused stage will keep you from being able to adjust to the change in your life – and who wants to feel upset every day?

Communicate. I’ll say it again.. communicate. Sometimes all you may need is to feel reassured that everything will work out is to talk with someone you trust. Get how you’re feeling out there, bottling it inside you is not only bad for you, but bad for the ones around you. You’re not at your best when there are a million and one things on your mind, you may end up having a break down about the smallest thing, just because you have so much built up. And again, it is so bad for your health to keep your emotions bottled up! Communicate!
Along with that, be sure to brush up on your stress management skills! The better you can handle stress, the better you will be able to handle any change that life may throw at you. Can you do anything about the change? Can you make it better yourself? If so, great! You know what to do! If not (which is the case more often than not in life), know how to accept the things that are out of your control. Accept and move on, because what else can you do?
And finally, be POSITIVE! If you wake up and tell yourself right away that today is going to be a bad day, it is. However, you are much more likely to have a good day when you’re positive about what you could endure! DO NOT expect the worst, don’t set yourself up for failure! Change is a huge opportunity for growth as not only an individual but as a community in whole.
No matter what you’re going through, you can do this! Breathe, communicate and think happy thoughts. There are so many amazing things that life and the community around you have to offer, be sure you’re not missing it!
