NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!!
How Our Professional Staff Can Help You Start Meeting Your Fitness Goals Today!
Having a good support system is the best way to help you stay on track with your fitness goals. At Physical Therapy Consultants, we enjoy helping our patients with instruction in individualized exercise programs to help meet their needs. We educate our patients and perform hands on treatment to help them reach their optimal physical performance. Here are a few tips to help reach your fitness goals in 2016!
1. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity every week. (brisk walking, riding bike, water aerobics), that is equal to 2 hours and 30 minutes of physical activity. It is also important to engage in muscle strengthening workouts 2 or more days a week such as lifting weights, working with resistance bands, yoga, and bodyweight exercises (push-ups, sit-ups).
2. A warm-up and stretching routine is key prior to your workout in order to prevent injuries.
Make sure to give yourself at least 10 minutes before your workout to warm up.
3. Stay well hydrated
Water helps to increase our energy levels and our muscles need to be replenished to prevent soreness.
4. Prone to injuries or do you need help in creating an exercise program? It’s wise to check with a physical therapist to discuss safe return to activities and to assist with progressing your exercise program. If not prone to injury, your therapist can give you education on proper technique and form in order to keep you injury-free.
We offer health fitness assessments at our St.Francis Physical Therapy location. Our physical therapist will create you an individualized program to help improve your strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness.
