Holiday Health Tips
Remaining active and making healthy choices can be challenging during the holiday season. Time commitments, a changing schedule, cold weather, and a large amount of food can often lead to decreased physical activity and increased food consumption. Here are a couple of tips to help manage this tricky time of year:
-
Exercise before meals leads to more effective calorie use.
-
Eat a healthy snack at home prior to going to a party or gathering so you aren’t as hungry when you get there.
-
Avoid hanging out by the “food table.”
-
Eat from a smaller plate as opposed to “grazing.”
-
Try to be consistent with exercise during the holidays, but don’t get discouraged if you miss a day of exercise or overindulge for a meal!
