Have a Great Time and Maintain Your Waistline While On Vacation!!

Spring break is near and it’s that time of year where some of us get away from this chilly weather and that “white stuff.” A get away is a time for us to enjoy the relaxation, and to eat delicious food. A vacation of overeating and not exercising can really set us back on our fitness goals. Don’t leave your runners and diet routine at home. Here are a few tips to maintain your goals this vacation.

Bring your workout gear: Before you go, make sure to pack your running shoes and comfortable clothing. Don’t forget your water bottle!
.
Start every day with a workout:Set yourself a goal to run along the beautiful and sandy beach. Go for a hike or bike around when touring the city. Add bodyweight exercises into your routine such as push-ups, squats, and burpees. Physical activity can make your vacation more fun.
Drink in moderation and avoid sugary beverages: Instead try to liven up plain water with lemons or limes. Don’t forget about fruit teas and lemonade.
 Pack a healthy snack:
Pack healthy snacks for in between meals so you don’t overeat at mealtimes. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics suggest packing trail mix, whole grain fruit bars, crackers, and healthy fats such as almonds and peanuts.
Resistance Bands:  Spend less time hunting for a fitness facility and pack small, flexible, resistance bands that you can use in your hotel room or outside on the beach or even around the pool.
With a little planning before you travel, you can still have a relaxing time at your destination while maintaining your fitness goals! Make this your very first Fit Vacation!!
