Decrease and eliminate shoulder pain and get back to doing the things you love. Everyone experiences shoulder pain differently. While some people may experience a quick onset, others experience a more gradual progression. Pain symptoms may feel like a mild ache, sharp stabbing sensation and/or throbbing pain in the shoulder.

Physical therapy is a safe and effective treatment to eliminate your shoulder pain, improve your range of motion, and increase your strength. Your life does not stop with shoulder pain. Physical therapy can help you get back to completing activities of daily living, such as brushing your teeth, washing your hair, reaching overhead, etc.

Common diagnosis:

  • Shoulder pain
  • Rotator cuff tear
  • Rotator cuff tendonitis
  • Adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder)
  • Labral tear
  • Biceps tendonitis

Physical therapy for shoulder pain may be necessary before or after surgery for:

  • Rotator cuff repair
  • Biceps tendon repair
  • Labral repair or debridement
  • Total shoulder replacement
  • Reverse total shoulder replacement
  • Repair of broken bone (ORIF)

Treatment varies for each individual but may include:

  • Pain relieving modalities (hot pack, cold pack, traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis)
  • Manual therapy
  • Trigger point dry needling
  • Strengthening and stretching exercises
  • Postural education
  • Functional activities
  • Kinesiotape/sport taping
